An auto-mechanic, Olajide Tope, popularly known as Meco, has committed suicide in Otan-Ile, Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State.
Although the reason for his action was not ascertained, investigation revealed that the deceased had an argument with his wife on Wednesday night over a yet-to-be ascertained matter and then committed suicide on Thursday night.
A source who pleaded anonymity said: “We don’t know what led to the disagreement between him and his wife on Wednesday. We thought the matter had been settled after the intervention of some residents. We were surprised to hear that he had hung himself.”
The spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the incident yesterday.
She said the Command was aware of the incident and some personnel were immediately deployed to ensure calm and maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the area. She said the state commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, had advised married couples and individuals experiencing emotional challenges to always reach out to the Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit of NSCDC, Osun State command.
“The unit has successfully mediated and resolved numerous cases, offering support and guidance to those in distress.
