Ohafia Improvement Union (OIU), the development arm of the Ohafia community, Abia State, has urged its people to fully embrace the on-going Voter Registration Exercise, in line with the directive and timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a press statement dated August 20, 2025, signed by OIU Interim President General, Chief Fab Uche, and the Secretary General, Elder Uma Ntima, the union reminded the people of the necessity of carrying out this important civic responsibility with great passion, saying that would go a long way to further define their level of political participation during elections, and the democracy dividends that would accrue to the community.
According to them, voting population to a very large extent is used in determining resource allocations, delineation of political wards, polling units and other accruable of democracy.
“We are imploring all sons and daughters of Ohafia to fully participate in the on-going Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise. This is a critical endeavour to boost our voter population, which is fundamental to enhancing Ohafia’s standing for key political and developmental considerations, including and not limited to: The creation of new political wards; the potential creation of a new local government area, equitable allocation of resources, empowerment, etc.
“The registration schedule is as follows: The online pre-registration begins on Monday, August 18, while physical registration and biometric capture begins on Monday, August 25.
“This is a continuous exercise as mandated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) until further notice.
“We hereby direct all our associate village/town unions to disseminate this message widely and to continuously canvass and mobilise our people throughout this registration period,”the statement emphasised.
