Concerned about the plans to construct the Marina to Lekki railway line and its effects on people whose properties will be demolished to pave right-of-way, Oba Alayeluwa Saheed Elegusi has enjoined Lagos state government to ensure adequate compensation is paid to them.

The project referred to as “Green Line” is a  68-kilometer rail route from Marina to Lekki Free Trade Zone.

He prevailed on government to pay compensation during a recent visit by officials of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) to inform His Royal Highness about advocacy on the upcoming Lagos Rail Mass Transit, (LRMT) code named “Green line”, project.

The Oba also commended both the federal and state governments for undertaking development projects that will benefit the area.

The LAMATA delegation, including Mr. Kolawole Ojelabi (Head, Corporate Communication), Arch. Dipo Oshobu, Dipo Quadri, and Dr. Babatunde Osho of Global Impact Environmental Consulting also briefed the monarch on the project’s details and  anticipated impact on the Lekki-Eti-Osa corridor, particularly the Ikate Kingdom
