Coffee grounds sold at Dollar General have been recalled across 48 states, the Food and Drug Administration announced Tuesday.

The grounds may contain glass, which could cause serious injuries if consumed.

Check if your coffee is part of the recall, and discard it immediately if it is.

The recall affects three lots of Clover Valley Instant Coffee:

    • Size: 8 oz.
    • UPC: 876941004069
    • Lot 1: L-5163 with best-by date: 12/13/2026
    • Lot 2: L-5164 with best-by date: 12/13/2026
    • Lot 3: L-5165 with best-by date: 12/14/2026

The recalled coffee coffee grounds were sold at Dollar General stores between July 9 and July 21, 2025.

A customer notified Dollar General employees of the glass contamination.

The recalled coffee was sold at Dollar General stores in every state except:

The coffee was recalled due to potential glass contamination, an issue that a customer brought to the attention of Dollar General employees.

Ingesting glass fragments may lead to serious injuries, including damage to teeth, laceration of the mouth and throat, or perforation of the intestine. To date, no injuries have been reported in connection to the recalled coffee.

Dollar General is still investigating the source of the glass contamination.

If you recently purchased coffee from Dollar General, check if your product is part of the recall.

If you do have the affected coffee, do not use it. Dispose of it immediately and contact Dollar General for a full refund, via email at [email protected] or by phone at 1-888-309-9030.
