Armed bandits invaded a mosque in Marnona village, Wurno Local Government Area, Sokoto State, killing one and injuring others.

According to online reports, the incident occurred during a prayer session in the early hours of Tuesday, with eyewitnesses revealing that the assailants opened fire on worshippers.

The attack sent residents fleeing for safety in the already volatile Sokoto East axis.

Condemning the attack, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Hon. Isah Sadeeq Achida, called it “barbaric and an act of cowardice.”

“This attack is not only an assault on human lives but also on our collective faith and values. The perpetrators must be brought to justice, and we must remain united as a people to overcome this menace,” he said.

Achida expressed sympathy to the victims’ families and assured residents that the state government, in collaboration with security agencies, was making efforts to curtail acts of banditry in the state.
