A chieftain of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the South West, Olufemi Oguntoyinbo, has congratulated a former governor of Oyo State, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, on his nomination and ratification by the Ibadan kingmakers as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The Ibadanland Kingmakers had during a statutory meeting, held at the Olubadan’s Palace, Oke-Aremo, nominated and ratified Ladoja as the new Olubadan.
The Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba TajudeenAjibola, who presided over the meeting, said Ladoja’s name would be forwarded to Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, for official approval.
Oguntoyinbo, a prominent Ibadan indigene, in a statement, made available to journalists on Wednesday, wished Ladoja a long and peaceful reign.
“I congratulate Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja on his appointment by the Olubadan-In-Council as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
“Oba Ladoja is coming to the throne of his forefathers at an auspicious time. I wish him a peaceful reign,” Oguntoyinbo stated.
The NNPP chieftain also commended the Ibadan kingmakers for their maturity in following the Ibadan traditional system of Olubadan’s selection without delay.
He stated: “I also appreciate the Olubadan-in-Council for their promptness in the selection of the new Olubadan and without any rancour. History will record them positively.”
He prayed that under Ladoja’s reign, Ibadanland would continue to witness more peace and great development.
Oguntoyinbo also rejoiced with all indigenes and residents of Ibadan, praying that God would grant the new Olubadan many years in good health on the throne.
