The Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, and the State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs. Efeke Murna Dadaza, have jointly charged corps members deployed to the state to uphold discipline, patriotism, and active participation in national development throughout their service year.

Speaking at the official swearing-in of the 2,096 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream I corps members (Kaduna and FCT spillover) held at the temporary orientation camp, Government College, Kaduna, both presented a shared vision rooted in national unity, civic responsibility, and youth empowerment.

Represented by the Commissioner, Human Services and Social Development Hajiya Rabi Salisu, the Governor declared the orientation course open, calling on corps members to “shun corruption, tribalism, religious extremism and all negative tendencies,” while embracing hard work, tolerance, and loyalty to national ideals.

“Kaduna is a melting point of cultures and traditions. It is a miniature Nigeria. You are fortunate to be deployed here. Learn, grow and serve”, the governor said.

He reiterated the importance of respecting camp rules and adapting to the regimented structure of the orientation programme.

Mrs. Dadaza, in her welcome address, described the orientation course as a vital foundation of the NYSC scheme, structured to prepare corps members for the rigours of service through drills, leadership training, language studies, and entrepreneurial development.

“This ceremony formally inducts these young men and women into the NYSC scheme.

“Beyond the physical and mental challenges, they will also experience cultural and social exchange that fosters national integration”, she stated.

She expressed gratitude to the state government for its continued support but also used the platform to appeal for enhanced welfare provisions, including a permanent orientation camp, constitution of the State Governing Board, and support for camp healthcare and feeding.

“Our gratitude goes to His Excellency for his commitment to youth development.

“We, however, appeal for more intervention to ease camp operations and improve corps members’ wellbeing”, she added.

The 2025 Batch ‘B’ (Stream I) corps members will spend three weeks in camp before being posted to various locations across Kaduna State for the rest of their service year.
