In a move aimed at accelerating infrastructure development and poverty eradication, President Bola Tinubu has directed the transfer of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation to the Presidency.

The decision, announced during the 150th meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) held at the State House, Abuja, on Thursday, was intended to ensure seamless execution of the administration’s legacy projects across Nigeria.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the disclosure during a Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Tinubu.

“He also ordered the transfer of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation to the Presidency to enhance the seamless actualisation of his administration’s legacy projects across the country,” the spokesman to the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, said in a statement.

Before its recent transfer to the Presidency as directed by President Tinubu, the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGoF) was an extra-ministerial office supervised by the Minister of Works and Housing and served as the apex authority for surveying and mapping matters in Nigeria.
