    From Ndubuisi Orji, Abuja

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed grieve over the death of Dr. Leon Usigbe, who until his demise, last Friday, was the Nigerian Tribune, Abuja Bureau Chief,

The PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, on Sunday , described the late Usigbe, who was also the Presidential Villa and PDP Correspondent, for his organization, as a “quintessential
    journalist.”

The opposition party, while commiserating with late Usigbe’s family, the Nigerian Tribune, the PDP Press Corps, and the Nigerian Union of Journalists ( NUJ) , prayed God to give them the fortitude to bear the loss.

The statement read in part: “Dr. Leon Usigbe was a dazzling, highly experienced and quintessential journalist; an exceptionally cerebral yet calm, friendly and thorough professional who dedicated his life, skills, resources and energy towards the deepening of multi-party democracy, good governance and accountability in our country.

“He was a courageous journalist, who stood for justice, fairness and strict adherence to the Rule of Law, fearlessly spoke truth to power with his reporting, opinions and incisive commentaries.

“The PDP will always remember Dr. Leon Usigbe for his professional composure, affable disposition and excellent working relationship as a correspondent of the Nigerian Tribune covering the PDP

“The PDP mourns, our prayers and hearts go out to his widow and children at this moment of grief. We pray to God to send the Comforter to console them with His abiding presence and Grace.

“Our Party commiserates with Management and Staff of the Nigerian Tribune, the PDP Press Corps and the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ). We pray to God to grant Dr. Leon Usigbe eternal rest in his Bosom and to his family, colleagues and friends the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
