    From Jude Owuamanam Jos

Former Governor of Plateau State and Senator representing Plateau South, Simon Lalong, and a former All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the 2023 election, Sunday Garba Biggs, have congratulated Nentawe Yilwatda on his appointment as the national chairman of the party.

Biggs lost to Nentawe in the party’s primaries.

In a statement he signed, Biggs expressed belief that Nentawe’s appointment would usher inan  era of great achievement for the party not only in Plateau but at the national level.

The statement said: “Your appointment is not merely a change in leadership but marks a pivotal moment for our party,  indeed for the political landscape in our country. Your ascendancy to this strategic position holds profound significance, particularly for the North Central region of our nation. For too long, the region has yearned for a stronger voice and a prominent role in the national political discourse.”

In his own statement, Lalong described the emergence of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda as a source of great joy and inspiration, saying he brings on board fresh leadership experience and capacity to pilot the affairs of the biggest political party in Africa.

He said Yilwatda, whose political profile continues to rise, has been groomed for leadership and service, reflecting on his successful previous assignments as university lecturer, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Minister, and party chairman.

Senator Lalong thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Assembly leadership, APC governors, NEC Members and all stakeholders for reposing their confidence in Prof Yilwatda to lead the party at this time.
