On the first day of training camp practices for the Indianapolis Colts, here are the projected depth charts for each position.

Training camp is here for the Indianapolis Colts, with the team’s first practice taking place on Wednesday, July 23rd.

Of course, a lot can and will change over the next month, but given what we know right now, we’ll do our best to construct what the Colts’ depth charts look like at each position group.

    • Anthony Richardson | Daniel Jones
    • Riley Leonard
    • Jason Bean

With Anthony Richardson practicing, he and Daniel Jones will share the top spot.

    • Jonathan Taylor
    • Khalil Herbert
    • DJ Giddens
    • Tyler Goodson
    • Salvon Ahmed
    • Ulysses Bentley IV

The backup running back role is up for grabs, and for now, I’ll give Herbert the advantage over Giddens, given his experience. I have Goodson as the third option because I think, ultimately, the Colts want to make a change behind Taylor after last season.

    Indianapolis Colts tight ends

    • Tyler Warren
    • Mo Alie-Cox
    • Drew Ogletree
    • Will Mallory
    • Jelani Woods
    • Albert Okwuegbunam
    • Sean McKeon
    • Maximilian Mang

Warren was already a big factor in the passing game during offseason programs, according to Stephen Holder. Alie-Cox gets the edge over Ogletree with how last season played out, while that fourth spot is up for grabs. Mallory holds that position as of now, given how he performed in the spring.

    Indianapolis Colts wide receivers

    • Michael Pittman
    • Josh Downs
    • Alec Pierce
    • AD Mitchell
    • Anthony Gould
    • Ashton Dulin
    • DJ Montgomery
    • Ajou Ajou
    • Laquan Treadwell
    • Tyler Kahmann
    • Coleman Owen
    • Landon Parker
    • Blayne Taylor

There’s little mystery with this position group. We know who the top six on the 53-man roster will be and already have a good idea of what that order within that group looks like.

    Indianapolis Colts offensive linemen

    • C Tanor Bortolini
    • C Danny Pinter
    • C Wesley French
    • C Mose Vavao
    • G Quenton Nelson
    • G Matt Goncalves
    • G Josh Sills
    • G Dalton Tucker
    • OT Bernhard Raimann
    • OT Braden Smith
    • OT Jalen Travis
    • OT Blake Freeland
    • OT Luke Tenuta
    • OT Jack Wilson
    • OT Marshall Foerner

Both Bortolini and Goncalves are said to be competing for the starting center and right guard roles, but until we see more, they will be the presumed starters. Travis and Freeland are also competing for the swing tackle role. As the incoming rookie, like Goncalves was last year, Travis is ahead of Freeland currently.

    Indianapolis Colts defensive line

    • DE Kwity Paye
    • DE Laiatu Latu
    • DE JT Tuimoloau
    • DE Samson Ebukam
    • DE Tyquan Lewis
    • DE Isaiah Land
    • DE Durell Nchami
    • DE Desmond Little
    • DT DeForest Buckner
    • DT Grover Stewart
    • DT Neville Gallimore
    • DT Adetomiwa Adebawore
    • DT Tim Smith
    • DT Eric Johnson
    • DT Devonta Davis

Paye and Latu are at the top of the defensive end depth chart, while Buckner and Stewart are at the top of the defensive tackle depth chart. How the playing time shakes out behind those four players at their respective positions remains to be seen. GM Chris Ballard recently spoke very highly of Gallimore and mentioned Adebawore having a good spring. At end, with Ebukam coming off an Achilles injury, I’ll give Tuimoloau the advantage at this time.

    Indianapolis Colts’ linebackers

    • Zaire Franklin
    • Jaylon Carlies
    • Joe Bachie
    • Segun Olubi
    • Cameron McGrone
    • Liam Anderson
    • Austin Ajiake
    • Solomon DeShields
    • Jacob Phillips

Carlies is the presumed starter next to Franklin. After that, there is a lot to be determined on this linebacker depth chart. With Bachie having played under Lou Anarumo for several seasons, he is LB3 for now. But he, Olubi, and McGrone’s special teams experience will be important when it comes to determining who makes the final roster.

    Indianapolis Colts cornerbacks

    • Charvarius Ward
    • Kenny Moore
    • Jaylon Jones
    • Justin Walley
    • JuJu Brents
    • Sam Womack
    • Corey Ballentine
    • David Long Jr.
    • Alex Johnson
    • Johnathan Edwards

That second outside cornerback role is up for grabs. As the returning starter, Jones gets the nod for now, but is competing for that playing time with Walley and Brents.

    Indianapolis Colts safeties

    • Cam Bynum
    • Nick Cross
    • Hunter Wohler
    • Rodney Thomas
    • Trey Washington
    • Daniel Scott
    • Ladarius Tennison

Under Anarumo, the third safety could end up seeing somewhat significant playing time. Whether it’s Wohler or Thomas who earns that role could, in part, be determined by whether Anarumo wants Cross deep or near the line of scrimmage in those three safety looks. Wohler is a better box defender and Thomas is more of a free safety.

    Indianapolis Colts special teams

    • K Spencer Shrader
    • K Maddux Trujillo
    • P Rigoberto Sanchez
    • LS Luke Rhodes

Until we see otherwise, this is Shrader’s job at kicker.
