Second-year Utah Jazz center Kyle Filipowski was crowned the 2025 NBA Summer League Most Valuable Player. After his rookie NBA season, the former Duke Blue Devil averaged 29.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists in three games for the Jazz in Summer League.

Filipowski shot 56.1% from the field and 39.1% from behind the 3-point line before the team opted to rest him for the rest of the schedule. Although Utah finished with a 1-4 record, the 21-year-old’s performances proved sufficient to make him the first Jazz player to win the honor.

Filipowski was joined by Nique Clifford of the Kings, David Jones-Garcia of the Spurs, Jordan Miller of the Clippers and Terrance Shannon Jr. of the Timberwolves in the All-Summer League First Team.

The Charlotte Hornets went on to win Summer League as the only team with a perfect 6-0 record. The summer slate proved to be a must-see with the likes of Filipowski, No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg and Bronny James all participating.

According to ESPN, this year’s Summer League averaged 255,000 viewers, a 27% improvement compared to last season. The finale between Charlotte and Sacramento on July 20 also rose 3% compared to 2024 with 420,000 average viewers.

Filipowski will hope to carry the momentum from the Summer League into the 2025-26 NBA season after averaging 9.6 points and 6.1 rebounds in 72 games (27 starts) his rookie year.

Flagg unsurprisingly drew much of the attention to the tournament despite his campaign lasting just two games. Still, the former Duke star averaged 20.5 points and 5 rebounds, including 31 points against the Spurs. Flagg’s first game for Dallas became the fourth most-watched Summer League game in the competition’s history.

James also had a decent showing in Las Vegas, averaging 14.3 points, 3.8 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 0.8 steals in 24.3 minutes per game, shooting 47.6% from the field.
