I love expensive knits—including knit polos—and there’s no category I splurge on more freely. (Pants would like a word, but they don’t get one right now.) And while I’ll always vouch for the preposterously pricey option, I do understand the value can be harder to defend, especially in this economy.
But that’s never the case with Abercrombie polos: the selection is deep, the styles are dialed in, and they all clock in under $70. Easy to wear, easier to recommend.
So easy to recommend, in fact, that they almost feel like a glitch. It’s like everything has gotten catastrophically expensive, except for Abercrombie polos. Which, by all accounts, should’ve joined the club, considering how much polo you get for your money.
This isn’t the first time we’ve sung the praises of Abercrombie knits. Far from it. But sometimes great just keeps getting better, and it would be a shame not to remind you, for instance, that Abercrombie is employing at least nine different stitch patterns across its unrivaled selection.
Or that the range of colors they’re running with this summer—whether it’s the wear-with-everything emerald, refined merlot or any other effortlessly integrated hue—will get you through welcome drinks, office hours, date nights or just about any other situation you could find yourself in.
And if you thought they were a Johnny Collar specialty shop, well: a) their Johnny Collars rip and probably always will; and b) the button-throughs, quarter-zips, full-zips and classic two-buttons are every bit as well-proportioned and easy to wear. A little variation, after all, goes a long way.
So while it would be silly to pretend like a new polo (or three) is the key to a great second half of summer, it’s also silly to pretend like it wouldn’t increase the odds significantly. And when that polo is just $70 and wears like those three times its price? You don’t overthink it.
