The national leadership of Coalition of Ogun State Students and Youths (COSSY) has commiserated with President Bola Tinubu and Governor Dapo Abiodun over Sunday’s demise of former President Muhammadu Buhari and the Awujalè and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland,  Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.

This is contained in a Monday statement signed by National Convener of COSSY, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman.

Uthman said the coalition with heavy hearts and a profound sense of national grief joins the good people of Nigeria, Ogun State and Ijebuland in mourning the passing of the two “monumental pillars in the history and leadership of our great nation”.

The statement reads, “The death of former President Muhammadu Buhari marks the end of an era in Nigerian political history. He was a man of profound discipline, unwavering patriotism, and an enduring symbol of service to the nation.

“His leadership, both as a military Head of State and as a democratically elected President, shaped Nigeria’s democratic journey and left behind a legacy that will remain in our political discourse for generations.

“Equally, the departure of the Awujalè, a foremost traditional ruler and cultural icon, leaves a void that words cannot fill. As an indigene of Ogun State, I feel an overwhelming personal loss, as Kabiesi was not only a monarch but a father figure and custodian of our rich cultural heritage.

“His reign was marked by wisdom, dignity, and remarkable contributions to peace, development, and unity in Ijebuland, Ogun State and beyond.

“At this time of mourning, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, the government and people of Nigeria, the Ogun State Traditional Council, and the entire sons and daughters of Ijebuland across the globe.

“We pray that the Lord Almighty grants the souls of our departed leaders eternal rest and gives their families, communities, and the nation the strength to bear these irreplaceable losses.

“May their legacies inspire renewed commitment to nation-building, cultural pride, and public service.”
