The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) has appointed Chukwudi Uche as its Country Director for Nigeria, effective 1 September 2025.

This strategic appointment is aimed at strengthening procurement practices, combating corruption, and improving governance, particularly within the health sector.

In a statement signed by Sam Achampong, CIPS Regional Director for the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific, the organisation noted that Uche’s extensive experience and qualifications would be key to driving its strategic growth plans across Nigeria.

Uche, a seasoned procurement professional with over 20 years’ experience spanning the public, private, and non-profit sectors, previously served as Country Manager for the CIPS Health Procurement Africa Programme in Nigeria. His leadership has been instrumental in transforming procurement and supply chain management in the country’s health sector.

“Chukwudi’s appointment is a significant step forward for CIPS and Nigeria. His expertise and vision align with our mission to enhance procurement practices, foster transparency, and drive organisational transformation across the region,” Achampong stated.

Uche holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka; a Master of Science in Operations and Supply Chain Management from the University of Liverpool; and a certificate in Organisational Leadership from Harvard Business School Online. He is also a Chartered Fellow of CIPS and a certified Project Management Professional.

His appointment comes at a critical time as Nigeria seeks to address challenges in public service delivery, curb corruption, and promote economic development through professionalised procurement practices.

As Country Director, Uche will oversee statutory accountability and operational responsibility for CIPS’s strategic growth initiatives. His work will focus on implementing the CIPS Procurement Excellence Programme framework to drive organisational transformation across the region, while ensuring that individuals and organisations in Nigeria gain access to capability development opportunities in procurement and supply.
