What do we know about the Boston Celtics trading veteran guard Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers for guard Anfernee Simons? The Celtics are reportedly sending Holiday back to the team they traded for him with to get Simons and a pair of second round draft picks, according to recent reporting from ESPN senior reporter Shams Charania.
The move will help Boston get younger and cheaper, saving the team $4.7 million in salary and over $40 million in their potentially unprecedented luxury tax bill. The Celtics will get a bit weaker as a team defensively from the deal, but add some offensive firepower from beyond the arc with the move, a trade that should play well with head coach Joe Mazzulla’s preferred, 3-point heavy style of play.
The hosts of the CLNS Media “Garden Report” podcast, Bobby Manning and Noa Dalzell, reacted to the deal after news broke Monday night. Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say.
