UFC CEO Dana White is still not interested in having Francis Ngannou back.
With Jon Jones retiring and relinquishing his UFC heavyweight title, White was asked if he’d be willing to re-sign Ngannou. Prior to Jones calling it a career, Ngannou’s team hinted that the former UFC heavyweight champion could be willing to come back to the octagon.
However, White doesn’t see it as an option.
“He would consider coming back to the UFC if what? One thing I’ve learned over the years about Francis is Francis doesn’t always mean what he says publicly,” White said during the UFC on ABC 8 post-fight press conference. “What he says behind the scenes are different than what he says publicly. I’m not a big fan. I would be shocked if Francis ever came back here, on lots of different levels. I’m not a fan, and he doesn’t always mean what he says publicly.”
Ngannou, who signed with PFL after failing to come to terms on a new deal with the UFC, departed as the reigning heavyweight champion. He dismissed any claim that he was contemplating a UFC return.
“Did I say I’m ever coming back?”
