As per several media reports, Doshi passed away in the United Kingdom (UK), Doshi died with heart issues. He had been living in London for several years. The 77-year-old has been survived by his wife Kalindi, as well as son Nayan and daughter Vishaka.
Who Was Dilip Doshi?
Dilip was among the finest left-arm spinners in India for a long period of time and played 33 Test matches for the country, in which he took 114 wickets at an average of 30.71 with six five-wicket hauls. He made his debut against Australia in Chennai, while his last outing in the longest format was in 1983. Dilip and the Australian spinner Clarrie Grimmett are the only players to take more than 100 wickets in Test cricket after debuting post the age of 30.
He played 15 ODIs after his debut in 1980, with his final appearance in 50-over cricket in 1982. He took 22 wickets in the format.
Dilip played a stunning tally of 238 first-class matches in his career, with the majority of games coming for Saurashtra and Bengal. The left-arm spinner took a stunning tally of 898 wickets in red-ball cricket, which also included stints in County Cricket for Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire.
Doshi’s son, Nayan, was also a professional cricketer and played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League. He played first-class cricket for his father’s team, Saurashtra in India, as well as had multiple stints in County cricket for Derbyshire and Surrey.
