The big day is here as the five-match Test series between England and India gets underway today at Headingley, Leeds. India will be led by Shubman Gill, who was named the captain of the team after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Tests. Virat Kohli also followed Rohit and retired from the format ahead of the series. The team will also miss the services of gun pacer Mohammed Shami, who wasn’t picked due to fitness concerns.
India are short on experience a bit, but they have enough quality in the team to give England a run for their money.
Meanwhile, England have been a brute force at home, however, the retirement of James Anderson, and injuries to Jofra Archer, and Mark Wood have sucked some venom off the bowling attack. India can exploit this weakness and put England under pressure. However, England’s batting is very strong, and it’ll be up to the Indian pacers to knock them out for low scores which is a must to win the series.
