After Iran, India on Thursday announced the launch of Operation Sindhu to evacuate Indian nationals from Israel amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said Indian citizens who wish to return home will be transported through land routes from Israel, followed by flights back to India.

“In view of the recent developments between Israel and Iran, the Government of India has decided to evacuate from Israel those Indian nationals who wish to leave,” the MEA said. “Their travel from Israel to India will be facilitated through the land borders and thereafter by air to India.”

The Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv will coordinate the evacuation efforts. The MEA urged all Indian nationals in Israel to register with the embassy if they have not already done so.

“The Embassy of India in Tel Aviv would be making arrangements for the evacuation of Indians,” the ministry said. “All Indian nationals are requested to register themselves with the Embassy… at https://www.indembassyisrael.gov.in/indian_national_reg.”

The statement also reiterated earlier advisories, urging Indian citizens in Israel to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to the safety protocols issued by Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command.

The MEA also said that the safety of Indian nationals abroad is of the highest priority and said the government would continue monitoring the situation closely. “The Embassy remains continuously in touch with the community with a view to extending all feasible assistance,” the statement added.

For queries or emergencies, Indian nationals may contact the 24/7 control room at the Embassy of India in Tel Aviv at +972 54-7520711 or +972 54-3278392, or email [email protected]., it said.

On Wednesday, the MEA said that it had launched “Operation Sindhu” to evacuate its nationals stuck in Iran. A total of 110 Indian students from northern Iran landed in Delhi on a special flight from Yerevan, Armenia, today.

Israel launched ‘Operation Rising Lion’ just after midnight on June 13, targeting Iran’s nuclear, missile and military infrastructure. Iran later launched retaliatory strikes on Israel.

The tensions between the two countries is ongoing. Israel’s defence minister on Thursday overtly threatened Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei after the latest missile barrage exchange from Iran damaged the main hospital in southern Israel and hit several other residential buildings near Tel Aviv. Israel meanwhile struck a heavy water reactor that is part of Iran’s nuclear program, reports AP.

At least 240 people were wounded by the Iranian missiles, four of them seriously, according to Israel’s Health Ministry.
