Dusk Elsie Chair review: a stylish and functional addition to any home workspace

When it comes to office chairs, it’s no longer just about comfort. Looks matter just as much, and if we’re being honest, who doesn’t want a chair that looks as good as it feels? That’s why the Slouch Task One scooped up the title of Best Office Chair at last year’s T3 Awards, and it raised the bar big time.

Amongst this year’s contenders is Dusk’s own take on the ultimate office chair. Known for its chic homeware and stylish furniture, it’s a small move away from the usual ergonomic options we’re faced with, but I think it’s one of my favourites I’ve seen in a while.

I’ve been testing the Dusk Elsie Chair in my home office for the past couple of months, and you’ll find my final verdict below.

Dusk Elsie Chair review: price and availability

The Dusk Elsie Chair has a recommended retail price of £155 (around $210), and it’s sold exclusively on the Dusk website.

That said, Dusk often drops discounts throughout the year, and the Elsie Chair is currently down to just £114. So if you’ve been eyeing a new chair, now’s the moment.

Dusk Elsie Chair review: design and features

The Dusk Elsie is upholstered in a soft velvet finish and comes in a range of muted, modern tones, including Beige, Sage, Apricot, Taupe and Light Grey. Depending on the colour you pick, the leg finish changes too – although you can’t customise the legs separately like you can with the Slouch Task One.

It has a minimalist design with armrests, which is ideal if you’re after something that won’t visually clutter up your space. It’s also height adjustable (between 48cm and 58cm) and it supports up to 120kg.

Assembly was very simple, and I just had to screw a plate onto the bottom of the seat and slot it onto the pole connected to the base. It took me about 10 minutes to put together, and I was pleasantly surprised by how weighty and premium the base felt too.

    Dusk Elsie Chair review: performance

After nearly two months of daily use, I can safely say the Dusk Elsie Chair is a delight to sit in. It’s incredibly comfortable, but there’s no adjustable backrest or arm support, so it may not be for you if you’re someone who’s sitting for long hours and needs very specific posture support.

That said, I’m a big believer in keeping good posture habits and getting up for regular stretches, and in that context, the Elsie has served me perfectly. It’s comfortable enough to use throughout the day, and it fits beautifully into my office space without dominating it.

    Dusk Elsie Chair review: verdict

If you’re after an office chair that brings serious style without sacrificing comfort, the Dusk Elsie Chair is a great choice. It’s beautifully designed, easy to assemble, and feels far more premium than its price tag suggests – especially if you catch it on sale. Whilst it’s not ergonomic in the traditional sense, I found it perfectly comfortable for day-to-day use.

Dusk Elsie Chair review: alternatives to consider

If you’re like me and you care just as much about style as substance, you really can’t go wrong with the Slouch Task One. It’s gorgeous, customisable and premium in every sense, but it does come with a hefty price tag.

On the flip side, if you do prioritise ergonomics, I’d point you towards the FlexiSpot BS12 Pro. It’s well-designed, supportive, and much more adjustable.
