Panchayat 4 Actor Neena Gupta ‘Glad’ To Empower Women Through Series: Manju Devi Is Breaking Pattern
Amazon Prime Video’s original series Panchayat is making headlines with its much-anticipated return for Season 4 on June 24. Recently, veteran actress Neena Gupta opened up about her journey from Season 1 to the upcoming season, reflecting on her growth and the evolution of her character, Manju Devi. She highlighted a key turning point that redefined Manju Devi’s role in the series.
Neena Gupta talks about how her role as Manju Devi in Panchayat has evolved
Neena recently expressed how her role as Manju Devi in Panchayat has evolved and grew from the start. The actress explained, “My growth with Panchayat really began in Season 1, especially during the flag hoisting scene— that was Manju Devi’s turning point. In most villages, women are often okay with not knowing or learning certain things, but what I loved about my character was that she decided to break that pattern. She slowly became more firm, more curious, and eventually more independent. And that kind of change doesn’t happen overnight— in real life, it’s a slow process. It’s a fact that the concept of Pradhanpati still exists in many parts of our country. Through this series, I’m so glad we could show that if women want to take charge and lead, they absolutely can.”
