Joel Embiid has been one of the best stars in the NBA. Since emerging as an All-Star, Embiid has become the face of the Philadelphia 76ers and the leader of the team. However, the recent injury trend in his career hasn’t been helpful.
Last season, fans witnessed Embiid stay healthy, only appearing in 19 games. He dealt with knee issues most of the time and was shut down by the 76ers by the end of February. The star big man’s limitations have put a strain on his career, especially since he had just won the MVP award two seasons ago.
With his inconsistent health, a reporter predicted what could happen to Embiid’s future.
76ers Reporter Predicts That Joel Embiid Knows His Career is Near Its End
76ers reporter Keith Pompey talked about the team and Embiid at SiriusXM NBA Radio on Sunday. According to Pompey, because of his injuries, the seven-time All-Star knows the end of his NBA career is near.
“I think Joel [Embiid] may know that the end is near,” Pompey said. “This is just me saying. It’s kinda like explaining to people what he’s been going through. Because rarely do you have a guy tell you how much pain and how much they’re going through.
“It may not be this season, but the end is near. And maybe he feels as though he can’t play to the level he used to.”

Pompey said that he could be wrong with his prediction about Embiid’s career. However, the media personality said that that was what he understood in the new ESPN feature piece about the Cameroonian center.
Throughout his entire career, Embiid has dealt with injuries. He’s missed 400 games and appeared in 446 since getting drafted in 2014.
