Wide leg yoga pants are the new leggings. We know, we know, leggings and yoga are practically synonymous. So how can anyone make such an assertion? But these days, comfort is paramount. And just as gym lovers are trading their skin-tight activewear for sweats, many yogis are also looking for ways to loosen up.
These flowy yoga pants are easily dressed up pre- or post-practice, making them a worthy multi-purpose addition to your out-of-studio wardrobe. Further, the generous silhouettes allow for increased airflow, making your practice more comfortable on warmer days—without tripping you up.
Those looking to simply dip their toes in wider waters would do well to start with the more subtle flared legging. If you’re ready for an even more relaxed, yet still flattering, fit, the following wide leg yoga pants will serve you (and your yoga) well.
5 Wide Leg Yoga Pants for a Cozy Practice
Whether you prefer a trouser-inspired fit or a vacation-ready option, there’s a wide world to explore.
1. Prana Shea Soft Wide Leg Pant

These super-soft pants are roomy enough to layer over leggings, but you’ll want to give them some solo attention. The Tencel pants drape wonderfully, allowing them to be worn on and off the mat. Wherever you choose to take them, they are so, so comfortable.
Still, the fabric is…specific. It’s recycled poly (points for sustainability) and a little less breathable than cotton. It’s also prone to attract lint, fur, and the like, and delicate enough that we’re not certain it will hold up well against daily practice wear. If you’re on the shorter side, expect to get these hemmed.
2. Lululemon Align Palazzo Pant

Who knew a couple of pleats could do so much? These yoga pants are nearly boardroom ready, which is wild, because they’re also some of the most comfortable bottoms this editor has ever slipped into. They also make my legs look extra long—not the goal, but not not the goal, either. Of all the pants on our list, these are undeniably the most versatile, functioning equally well as loungewear, mat-ready attire, and an IRL pant that can be dressed all the way up.
Note: These run on the roomy side, so if you want a loose pant that still flows with you, consider sizing down.
3. Jala Chill Yoga Pant

The closest option to the flared legging on this list, Jala’s pants are the very definition of flowy. Made of moisture-wicking jersey, the pants are spacious in terms of shape, but also practical for even a heated yoga class. The fold-over waistband is a flattering (and ever-so-slightly compressive) throwback, and the bottoms come in several cool colors. Honestly, no concerns come to mind; if boho is your thing, we recommend these pants.
4. Prana Hideaways Pant

Are you bound for yoga class, the beach, or both? These pants from Prana insist that you don’t have to choose. Crafted from a textured organic cotton gauze and finished with a fray detail at the ankle, the Hideaways are the sort of pant that star in summer daydreams. The fact that this editor was also able to practice yoga in them quite comfortably is a slightly shocking bonus. These loose pants are a barrel fit, which provides an alternative option for those who discover that the wide leg look isn’t for them.
As a downside, these are definitely not yoga pants in the traditional sense. The waistband felt slightly prohibitive (or at least noticeable) in certain poses. But as a multi-purpose vacation piece? Yes, please.
5. Set Easy Pants

Sweats lovers, rejoice! These pants from Set are comfy and cool, yet lightweight enough for your yoga practice. While most sweats make this editor feel like she just tumbled out of bed, these are flattering enough to be worn out of the house—though they support my home practice, too. The cotton is described as “heavyweight,” but honestly, these are like a t-shirt for my legs (I mean that in the best way).
That said, these are sweatpants. If you’re looking for any compression, or even a slightly sleek fit, there’s likely an alternate option that’s better for you.
