When you’re getting dressed for scorching summer temperatures, it can be tempting to overthink things. Is today the day I finally try wearing flip-flops? Are my shorts long (or short) enough? But sometimes the simplest answer is the best answer, and chances are it’s already one of your favorite things in your closet: a graphic T-shirt.
During the men’s collections in Paris last week, many of the flyest fashion-show attendees skipped the sartorial dramatics and instead opted for simple, visually compelling tees of all stripes (sometimes literally). Amidst the Paris heatwave, even GQ’s global editorial Will Welch put his usual suits and ties on ice and reached instead for trusty graphic tees throughout fashion week. When Welch attended Jonathan Anderson’s inaugural Dior show last Friday, he wore a Bode T-shirt printed with a vintage cover design of William Faulkner’s novel The Sound and the Fury—a fitting nod given the literary motif present through Anderson’s collection.
